Al Salam Alaikum wa Rahmat Allah wa Barakatoh
Do you want to live a long life? Do you want to have more blessings from Allah, and be wealthier?! Do you want your name to be noticeable and memorable even after you pass away?! All of these things are so close to you if you do one enjoyable thing...Do you know what is it?! Come with me, and you will see!!!
Visit your relatives on regular basis, and as much as you can, and you'll have all these rewards in this life as well as many other rewards in the Hereafter. Who are my relatives that I have to visit?! It depends on you, if you are still not married and staying with your parents, visit your other relatives...your grandpa...your grandma....your aunts...your uncles...your cousins...your nephews...your nieces....whoever relative you have whether a close relative or a far one in terms of relationships or in terms of destinations.
The closest the relative, the more right he/she has on you and the more duties you have toward him/her. Even if you were married and you have your own family, even if it is a big family with your children and grand children, it doesn't mean that you don't have any or you have less obligations towards your roots, you should try your best to give everyone his/her right as much as you can...And if it was so difficult to visit very frequently, at least you should manage to contact them on regular basis via phone, email, social web-sites, or whatever sort of contact you usually use.
From where did you bring this kind of rewards?! Is it from your own pocket, dear?! Of course not, there are many sayings of Prophet Mohammad -peace and blessings of Allah are upon him- regarding this issue and I'll spot the light on only two of them:
"من سره أن يبسط له في رزقه وأن ينسأ له في أثره فليصل رحمه"
"من سره أن يمد له في عمره ويزاد في رزقه فليبر والديه وليصل رحمه"
Meaning:
For those who wish to live a longer life, and have more wealth, and also who want to be memorable in a good way after their death, the way for all of that is to obey your parents as they are your closest relatives, and to be connected with your other relatives and not to be detached from them, the way I mentioned earlier, and as much as you can.
How is that?! Is it a real increase in the years of life, or a kind of blessing, or what exactly...These are the issues to be discussed next time....Inshallah.
