Al Salam Alaikum wa Rahmat Allah wa Barakatoh
Sometimes people do things for a period of time since they think that it is the right thing or even the best thing to be done. Then, after a while they realize that what they were doing was wrong and they were mistaken in weighing things up.
How should they deal with such a matter? Shall they keep on doing the wrong thing so that to satisfy others and have their praise, or shall they correct their direction or any wrongdoings in general?!
Of course they should do whatever is accepted by Allah even if it is being rejected by all other people in this world.
There is a saying of Prophet Mohammad - peace & blessings of Allah be upon him- regarding this issue:
"من ابتغى رضى الناس بسخط الله، سخط الله عليه وأسخط عليه الناس. ومن ابتغى رضى الله بسخط الناس، رضي الله عليه وأرضى عنه الناس"
I'll try to spot the light on its meaning, It says that whoever is looking for the acceptance of people regardless of the acceptance of Allah the Great, Allah will not guide him/her, so he/she will be guided by people, and how do you expect his/her life to be?!!! Without any doubt, full of problems.
On the contrary, whoever seeks Allah's acceptance by obeying his orders forgetting about all others in this world, Allah will reward him/her by saving him/her from other people abuse and even Allah will make those people like, accept, and be satisfied with him/her. What a nice, treasured, cherished reward isn't it?
